TECHNICAL DATA SHEET. Vinyl Matt Emulsion

Description . Vinyl Matt emulsion is a water based tough, flexible product of good durability. It is intended for use on interior walls and ceilings where a matt washable finish is required.

Properties . Vinyl Matt emulsion is a water-based paint formulated on a high performance vinyl copolymer emulsion.

Preparation . Great attention should be paid to correct surface preparation, as this is the single most important step in the painting sequence. Surfaces to be painted should be sound clean and dry and completely free of grease and other contamination. Remove all loose and flaking material (Wear a suitable face mask when dry sanding.) Powdery surfaces should be treated with a coat of a proprietary alkali resisting primer (thinned with approx. 10% white spirit). Cover nail and screw heads with an oil based primer before using Vinyl Matt emulsion. Very absorbent surfaces should be mist coated with a well-thinned coat of Vinyl Matt emulsion. After allowing to dry, two full coats of Vinyl Matt emulsion should be applied. Do not apply in very cold or damp conditions.

Coverage . Coverage rates will depend upon the surface to be painted but 12-15 square metres per litre would be expected.

Application . Vinyl Matt emulsion can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. For brush or roller application the product can be thinned with water by up to 10% if desired. A medium pile roller would be recommended for most normal applications however a longer pile roller should be used on very rough surfaces. For airless spraying, thinning should be avoided if possible although this will be dependent upon equipment and application conditions.

Spray tip aperture 14-16 thou (0.35-0.41mm ) Spray tip angle 50 ° -70 ° Minimum working pressure 2000ps i

Drying Time . 1-3 hours depending upon conditions. Low temperatures will extend drying times. Recoatable after 4 hours.

Colour Availability. Brilliant White and Magnolia (BS 08B15). Also available in black and a range of bases for tinting.

Clean Up . Remove as much paint as possible from equipment before washing. Brushes, rollers and spray equipment should be cleaned out immediately after use in warm soapy water

Safety Precautions . Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Wear suitable face mask when spraying. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists. After skin contact, rinse with soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. For further information, see Health and Safety Data sheet.

Storage Protect from frost. Store in a cool dry place awa y from direct sunlight. Replace lid firmly after use.

Disposa l Do not empty paint in to drains or watercourses. Some Local Authorities have special facilities for disposal of waste paint.

VOC Level . Low VOC content (0.30 to 7.99% )VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) contribute to atmospheric pollution.

Special instructions. Stir before use. If thinning is necessary use water. If more than one can is to be used in an area, premix cans before use.
