TECHNICAL DATA SHEET. Smooth Masonry Paint.

Description . Smooth Masonry Paint is an exterior quality product displaying high film flexibility, colour fastness, stability and surface smoothness. The product dries to a finish which has resistance to fungal growth and atmospheric soiling.

Properties . Smooth Masonry Paint is water based and formulated on a high performance, flexible acrylic resin emulsion

Preparation . Great care should be paid to correct surface preparation as this is the single most important step in the painting sequence. Smooth Masonry Paint should not be applied in very cold or wet weather nor should it be applied to surfaces which are damp. Any surfaces contaminated with fungal growth or mould must first be treated with a proprietary fungicidal wash. Dirt and dust should be first brushed off (or washed off) the surface to be painted. Any areas which are loose and flaking should be wire brushed and filled as appropriate. Where the surface is very porous, it is recommended that the surface is first sealed with a coat of Stabilising Primer. This should be allowed to dry thoroughly. When surface preparation has been completed and the surface is clean dry and sound, two full coats of Smooth Masonry Paint should be applied. The product should, wherever possible, be applied unthinned. Allow at least 6 hours between coats.

Coverage . Minimum expected coverage 5 square metres per litre. Although exact coverage rates will be very dependent upon the surface to be painted.

Application . Smooth Masonry Paint can be applied by all the normal techniques – brush, roller and airless spray. In all cases thinning is not recommended. For brush application, use a good quality brush (at least 4inch) For roller application, a long pile roller should be used on rough textured surfaces, a shorter pile roller being preferable on smoother surfaces.

For Airless spray :Spray tip aperture 17 – 23 thou (0.43 mm – 0.58mm ) Spray tip angle 60 ° - 70 ° Minimum working pressure 2000ps i

Do not apply in very cold or damp conditions .

Drying Time . In normal conditions, touch dry in 2 hours and recoatable in 5 – 6 hours.

Colour Availability. Brilliant White, Magnolia (BS 08B15), black and a range of tint bases.

Clean Up . Remove as much paint as possible from equipment before washing. Brushes, rollers and spray equipment should be cleaned out immediately after use in warm soapy water.

Safety Precautions . Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Wear suitable face mask when spraying. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists. After skin contact, rinse with soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. Note. This product contains a fungicide / algaecide. For further information see Health and Safety Data sheet.
